Privacy policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026
At Sensetrails, we build apps for well-being, sport, play and a lighter footprint, and we believe respecting your privacy is part of caring for you. This policy explains what personal data we process when you use our website and our mobile apps, why, and what rights you have. We process personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who we are
The controller responsible for your personal data is:
Sensetrails Sàrl, Villars-Champvent, Switzerland
Email: info@sensetrails.com
Our approach: as little data as possible
- Your data stays on your device. Most of our apps work entirely offline. What you enter (dive plans, expenses, garden notes, game progress…) is stored on your device and is not sent to us.
- No accounts required. Our apps do not ask you to create an account with us.
- We never sell your data and we do not use it for profiling.
- Children's privacy. Apps designed for children collect no personal data, show no third-party advertising and protect purchases and settings behind a parent gate.
Data processed by our apps
Depending on the app and the features you choose to use:
- Cloud sync and backup. If you enable iCloud, your app data is synchronised through your own Apple iCloud account. Apple processes this data under its own privacy policy; we have no access to it.
- Purchases. In-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We receive no payment details.
- Device features. Some apps may ask for permission to use location, camera, photos, microphone or Bluetooth (for example to place an expense on a map, attach a photo or download dives from a dive computer). This data is processed on your device only, and you can withdraw permission at any time in your device settings.
- Online features. Some apps offer optional online features, such as exchange rates, leaderboards or sharing trails. When you use them, only the data needed for that feature is transmitted, over an encrypted connection.
- Advertising. Some free apps may display ads provided by a third-party advertising partner (such as Google AdMob), which may process device identifiers according to its own privacy policy. Where required, we ask for your consent first, and you can remove ads with a purchase where offered.
- Crash and usage statistics. If you allow it in your device settings, Apple or Google may share anonymous crash reports and usage statistics with us to help us fix problems.
Some apps have their own website and privacy notice (for example Diveplanner), which complements this policy.
Data processed by this website
This website uses no tracking cookies and no advertising. As with any website, our server automatically records technical information (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type) in log files. We use these logs only to keep the site secure and working, and delete them after a short period. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads.
When you contact us
If you write to us by email, we use your address and message only to answer you, and we keep them only as long as necessary.
Legal bases
Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data to provide the service you request (performance of a contract), on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure and working service, to comply with legal obligations, or with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Sharing and international transfers
We share personal data only with the service providers mentioned above (such as Apple, Google and our hosting provider), and only as needed to provide our services. Some of them may process data outside Switzerland or the European Economic Area; in that case, appropriate safeguards are in place, such as adequacy decisions or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Security and retention
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss and unauthorised access, and we keep it only as long as needed for the purposes described here or as required by law.
Your rights
You have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Because most app data stays on your device, you can delete it at any time by deleting it in the app or by uninstalling the app. To exercise your rights, write to info@sensetrails.com. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), or the data protection authority of your country of residence in the EU.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our apps evolve. The date at the top shows the latest version. We will inform you of any significant change on this page or in our apps.
